If you’re wondering whether Local SEO is worth it for your business, this calculator will show you exactly how much revenue you could be earning.
You’ll need some basic numbers. If you don’t know how to get them, we’ll show you how to get the data without paying for fancy tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs.
Gathering Data for the SEO ROI Calculator
Step 1: Estimate Monthly Search Volume
Look at how many people are searching for services like yours in your area.
- Example: “Plumber in Jacksonville FL” or “HVAC repair near me.”
Where to find this (for free!):
- Google Search Console (GSC):
- Go to Google Search Console.
- Click on Performance.
- Scroll down to Queries — this shows what people are searching to find your site.
- Look at the “Impressions” column next to your most relevant search terms — that’s how often your site showed up.
- Don’t have GSC yet?
- Set it up now so it starts gathering data — it takes time to collect info!
- Need help setting up? Contact me to discuss set up services for your Google Properties.
💡 If you’re not showing up yet (no impressions):
- You can use free tools like the Free Keyword Tool from WordStream.
Example: “Auto Repair Jacksonville” might have 200+ monthly searches.
Just know that:
- Monthly Search Volumes are estimations by many tools
- WordStream estimations appear higher than expected, and
- Local search volumes are often lower but yeild greater results for local businesses.
Step 2: Find Your Click-Through Rate (CTR)
This tells you what percentage of searchers might click on your site.
Where to find this:
In Google Search Console > Performance > Queries, check the CTR column next to your keywords.

Local businesses often see CTRs like:
Top 3 positions: 5-40%
Lower page 1: 0.5-5%
Step 3: Know Your Website Conversion Rate
What percentage of website visitors actually contact you?
Don’t know? Here are some general ranges for local businesses:
- Local service businesses (plumbers, electricians, roofers, etc.): 5-15%
- Medical/legal/finance (trust-based industries): 10-25%
- E-commerce (product sales): 2-5%
Pro tip: If you don’t know your numbers yet, Google Analytics (GA4) can help track this!
Step 4: Average Customer Value
Think about your typical sale.
Examples:
- Auto repair shop: $800 average ticket.
- HVAC company: $300 for repair bills.
- Lawn care: $150 per month.
If customers buy from you multiple times, consider their lifetime value — total value of a repeat customer over time.
